Hi pitch whining noise from new ms880

Hi guys, I have a new ms880(4/5 tanks) and when I was lowering a stump today, it started to make an extremely loud high pitch frequency noise. So loud in fact the boss was grinding stumps 20 yards away and he could head it clearly above the stump grinder. Any information much appreciated.

I would look at the cooling impeller fins on the flywheel

 

Take the pull start cover off

I would also remove the sprocket and check the needle bearing and clutch. make sure the worm drive for the oil pump is okay also

It's turbo whistle, quite normal on the 880,s

Yeh brand new bought from dealer, il see how it does on Monday and if still happening, il take back to dealer.

HI MATT what size is it on then i love my 880 on large BUTTS thanks jon

It is on a 36" bar at the mo but got 48" aswel, you can't say no to big butts!
