Stumpgrinding

I brought the old vermeer 206 and it's already hard at work.. Now we have our own machine I'm selling grinding much more and therefore getting a lot more stumps to do. We've 3 or 4 a week to do when previously we'd get that a month.

Anyone got a good source for the teeth?

Also what's the best way to grind stumps? moving forward cutting a few inches and then doing more passes, or staying in the same place and going down, then moving on?

If there is enough profit in each job, some blokes work the cost of a set of cheaper finger teeth into the price, depends what you are charging? Look on Ebay for the finger teeth, if you get a greenstone carbide grinding wheel from a tool merchants, sharpen dulled teeth yourself or you will be shelling out a small fortune. Apparently this type of tooth are as good as any of the more high performance pricier options around, but opinions are like ********, everybody's got one. trial and error on the grind, I'd do steady sweeps across the whole diameter and work back

Dont bother with greenstone grinder wheels, they wear very quickly and make lots of nasty fine dust. Get a double sided diamond disk for your angle grinder from Saturn Machine Knives ( they may also do the teeth) They last much longer and are quicker. Also I take the angle grinder and a long lead to work and use the clients electric to buff them up on the job. ( all other trades do this so why not us)
