Carried out an Arboricultural impact report recently for a small development. They recently got the go ahead and have invited me back to oversee that appropriate tree protection measures are put in place and adhered to during the construction phase. 3 visits in total.

New territory for me - any suggestions on a price per visit would be most welcome.

Assuming you are qualified to assess trees, are we talking bs5837, regarding trees and construction, ie root plate analysis, protection zones etc. Impact of vehicles, building etc, then on top assume you have professional indemnity insurance to cover assessing trees and charging pro rata, thats not the same pro. idem. if you ruck up and cut the wrong tree down by the way. Once that is sorted, I over £60 per hour, and have the work coming out of my ears, if i then have to come back and VTA( visual tree assessment) a tree i then charge a flat £250 for climbing the tree. Great work on wet days, or on the way home shimmy up a tree, assess and spend the evening documenting. It is and endless topic of debate, it just opens a whole can of worms

I usually charge approximately the same amount that I expect to earn for a day's work, if a site meeting is 30 minutes or more away. It usually ends up mucking up the best part of a day by the time you've added travel time and done any associated paperwork.

The visits don't take all day, but they do stop you doing a full day on something else. That's how I look at it anyway.
