Cheers all for the info so far :thumbup1:

I havent seen the job yet will have a look tomorrow but from what my mate says they have destroyed his hedge to the point he thinks it needs felling, smashed some fence panels and left loads of logs, brash, crap in his garden

Not sure what to advise him yet will have a better idea tomorrow, I will take some pics.

Rain stopped play for us today so I went down and took a few pics.

Tbh they hadnt trashed it nearly as bad as he made out but they still did a very poor job.

A bit of hedge trimming work should sort it out.

If they had done a proper job and not left his garden in a mess with brash and hangers everywhere (3 kids under age of 6 so a bit of a potential danger) he probably wouldn't have been that bothered.

I would hope that the neighbour did the trees himself and didnt get a 'proper' company in because if he did then someone needs a right good slapping for doing a job like that!

The conifers where definitely 'pruned' with a chainsaw and it would require climbing rather than doing it from ladders so an educated guess leads me to believe that it was probably carried out by a local tree hero with an 020.

Not sure what he's going to do about it yet and I'm not pushing him into anything so we will see.

its not as bad as i thought it would be mate, a tidy up with some lopers and a hedgecutter and she will be as good as new. ish!!i dont get folk doing this kind of thing, why dont they just knock the door with a bottle of wine, before you know it your mate would of had you round and job done. your mate could try and prove a point and fell and replant and have a lot of hassle with lawyers, but i dont think he will get anywhere. i would definately try and get him done for damages though. but conifers do cause a lot of arguements. had they approached him in the past?was this the final straw for the nieghbour?

I had pruned them a couple of years ago when he first moved in. (they had been topped to loads of different heights over the years before he lived there .)

One of the neighbours likes the privacy but the other one obviously doesn't!

No one had been round to ask if they were getting trimmed again so he didn't bother.

If they had asked he would of just got me in again and it would have been sorted no bother with no cost to the neighbours at all.

As it turns out they have paid for a 8 cube skip which must be the best part of £140 and whatever they paid someone to do the job(if they did get someone in)

Would have probably been cheaper for me to do the job anyway!

Why on earth people think that they can just come along and do something like this because they are 'only trees' baffles me!

Its no different imo than someone not liking the roof on there neighbours shed, extension or conservatory and taking it upon themselves to smash it down!
