the seals are easy enough to do without taking the crank out.

and yes outboards are easier.

where abouts are you out of interest?

ie got a load of outboards to pickup at some point.

give spuds idea a go. the low screw will adjust the idle speed, in will make it run fast, also lean it out, not a good place to have it.

out will lower the idle as it will run rich. the balance on standard is one turn out.

what colour is the spark plug?

At the moment I have it set rich on the low speed screw, to keep the revs down, I will look at the plug colour tomorrow.

If there is a crankcase leak it is small, but I would like to control the idle with the idle screw, having set the low running mixture !/4 turn richer than best speed.

I live in Surrey, I did buy an Evinrude 6HP from Dover, they are interesting, uncaged needles for the big ends.

Just check a couple of simple things first, check the impulse hose is connected under the rear of the handle on the starter side and the rubber inlet manifold is ok, the tend to tear if the rear av fails. You never know!

go with a pres vac test then. or just replace them anyway.

I may just replace them anyway, do I need the special seal removal tool

"5910 890 4400 with jaws 0000 893 3706"

Or is there a simple method, can I just dig them out ?
