They will burn but badly.

If split fairly small and stacked they will lose 1% of water every 2-3 days if sunny and per week if not. (my observations)

So 50% to start and 20% to be ideal. That's 15-30 weeks so say 5 months. I'm burning this week Birch cut in April and split in June. Now at 16% but it was stacked in full sun and it's been a hot summer.

If your desperate, fell them and leave the leaves on until they wilt, this will help draw out some of the moisture.

Also once your burning it get as much wood in the house as you can, it will dry quite quickly in a warm house, although humidity in your home may be a problem.

thanks all !

so when you say fell and leave the leaves on ... is that a few weeks or a few days ?

in the past we have felled and tidied up straight away to keep access clear and make a safer working environment but if it helps the seasoning might well be a better option

Just leave untill the leave wilt, getting quite late in the year now, leaves are already starting to turn, but if the leaves are still good it's worth a go, IMO
