Indeed, definitely gotta keep an eye on the Tubex ones, I find that the field voles bl**dy love them too, I'm always finding nests in the base of them, with the stem of the tree chewed halfway through!

I have been working in a lot of farm/estate plantings from the 80s and they are full of plastic if the tree guards are not still on the trees they are all over the place or there are spiral guards grown in to them. it makes sense to me to move to biodegradables

I've used a lot of Tubex and I've seen the Ezeetree product - I know which I'd prefer to install. I can carry 200 Tubex 60cm at a time (easily), but doubt I'd carry more than 20 Ezeetree. Installing Ezeetree must take at least 2 minutes per tree - Tubex 20 seconds. OK for the tree huggers and those only planting a few, but in my opinion there's only one shelter worth looking at from a contractor point of view. The new Tubex 12D product breaks down into dust - worth a look.
