Where to find Norway Spruce for restoration project

I hope it is acceptable for me to register and post here when I am not employed in the tree care industry.

Google came up with your site when I was trying, unsuccessfully, to locate a source of Norway Spruce and I thought that if anyone could help with my problem that someone here would be able to.

I'm in the North of Scotland and have a Victorian house not far from Inverness with one of those porches where the corner pillars are Norway Spruce logs with the small brances not cut off flush but left projecting a couple of inches. It's a very particular look of that period.

Unfortunately, the logs were badly infested with woodworm. Even worse, the previous owner had done a bodge job, cutting off the bottom three feet from each pillar and inserting goodness knows what - probably larch - in the gap.

I have so far failed to find a source of Norway Spruce anywhere near, or indeed anywhere at all. Does anyone here have any idea where I might find some, or if not, of where else I might enquire - would there be a more suitable forum than this where I could ask?

My thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give. If not, at least I've stumbled across a site which looks to have a lot of interesting stuff on it.

That is excellent news, Mike.

I've been struggling with this, on and off, for months - five minutes on here and it looks like I'm sorted.

I'm not in a position to do anything about it for a few weeks, and it's always possible that someone a lot closer to Inverness might emerge, but I am very happy about this.

I don't see a facility on this site for Personal Messages - to communicate other than in the open forum - but I'd be happy to post my email address, then you could contact me and we'd have some way of sorting out details.
