Hi all I put my chipper in for a service on Monday it was going through the oil a bit and the plugs were fouling quite quick . went in today to see if it was ready to be told that it had low compression in both chambers and there was no oil in it despite me topping it up before I last used it and also the flywheel bearings are on their way out.

the mechanic said the pistons needed replaced and maybe a rebore and it being a kohler engine I mite b cheaper to get a new engine would that be right enough . any advice would b great .

I have a Kohler command on the grinder, lumpy but good, it's impossible to say really, your call, if you have the work I would upgrade the chipper to something like a TW, greenmech or Jensen 6 in with 30 plus hp.

Yours was probably a good starter chipper ( like my 25hp arbor eater) but probably time to move on.
