mornin lads, any one use a 20" bar for a husky 550xp? wanted some advice as to what bar size, currently got a 15" on there and thinking either 18" or 20" just wondering if any one has got either on their saws at the moment?

cheers

It is quite common in the US, and I have seen no complaints on saw performanse with it over there.

People and wood are different though, and long bars are part of the culture there it seems. :001_rolleyes:

I wouldn't do it except in a "pinch" - the balance of the saw would be very front Heavy, and the Nice handling of the saw will be affected adversely.

18 is good with it, and that's probably the max I would put on it as it pretty gutless at the stump even with a 15 on it. If u want to use a 20" bar I'd go for the 560xp, runs much sweeter at the stump. If u find ur doing a lot of scrub work go down to the 13" bar as it prefers this to anything else and it is much more fuel efficient per hour. I don't like these new saws with the fancy auto tune carbs, I find the older models run forever and don't bog down at the stump...
