Fungi help - what is this?

The mushroom on the branch is probably the porcelain fungus - Oudemensiella mucida.

 

I've seen loads of Oudemansiella mucida, this is a textbook fruiting body. Unimportant in general terms except as a symptom of other problems with a (Beech) tree, but trivial in the overall context of this tree.

Just an update to let you know. The council have declared the tree in a dead state so we can commence removal immediately. However, the border is creating a minor issue as the other side thinks the tree is on their property so we have to wait a week for this to be discussed with them. Our own builder was round and he and others have confirmed the tree is on our side. Just a wee hiccup in getting it down but it will be down!
