For those who have not seen one, this is a beach launch.

 

As can be seen here, its not always easy.

No its not always easy and as that one shows it was very nearly abandoned.

 

I did notice on the other videos own of the penlee lifeboat disaster, this is a much watch for people. Its over an horn long but is a very good film. Brings home the dangers out there.

 

This is another beach launch of a rib. This one went very wrong indeed.

Its easy to criticise, and I daresay many have over the years, but it is a simple case of too much throttle.

 

The throttle should be dropped before reaching the crest.

 

But it easy to say, and also easy to get it wrong.

 

I have launched in these conditions many times, and been close to a flip more than once.

 

It certainly gets the adrenalin running.

Yes it does. And as you know as well was me, the adrenalin pumps from the moment my pager goes off to the moment I'm back at station from a job.

 

The rush is just huge. And I have seen a few throw up on the quay side getting out there cars, purely because of adrenalin....
