Thanks for the advice given.

 

I could see that this tree has caused much stress for homeowners. I would not like to be in the property with high winds as this tree would flatten the property. The lean is more sever than in pic and the homeowner has pointed out to myself and tree officer that the root bowl looks like it has lifted slightly over the years.

 

I am all for conservation and love big historic trees...but this in this case i do not see any other option than to remove this tree. It has several properties that it will demolish if it comes down ( high target area ) and if it keeps on growing that this angle who knows.

You may need to provide some evidence to support an application to remove the tree based on its potential risk. There are many thousands of trees in the UK that could cause massive catastrophe IF they fail. But generally they don't.

 

Have you considered a pull test to help evaluate the tree's stability?

 

If there is no real evidence of rootplate movement and no other structural defect then I can't see how an application would be consented.
