Wiseco - how much blow down are you running on your jug? I am at 24-25 ish. This jug seems like it would like a lot more closer to 20.

Yeah that seems high, try to achieve a 20-22. 20 seems the best measurement from what ive heard. Mine ended up at a nats below 22 from what I remember so was happy and didn't go further.

Mines still not been in anything over 12-15" wood properly as yet tho, hoping the end of this week I can get it into some decent size stuff as feeling a bit healthier.

Cool. Good to see yer bettah.

I was considering running a 20" bar, so 22 would prolly give me a touch more mid range torque to run it with an 8 pin, I reckon. I don't need it to hold 12K RPM in the cut, eventually I am gonna run a 28" on it and would like it to just not bog in the cut if the tree moves. Still, I am just running these numbers with the flat top. I will have to runt hem again when the pop up arrives. Hope the deck height isn't different. I am told it is the same piston...but we know how that goes...

Deck height is the same on the 272, 372 and stihl piston altho with the stihl you will have to rotate it 180 degrees so the arrow faces the inlet port so the ring land is in a better place and wont snag a ring..

I run mine on a 20" bar, was thinking about getting a 28 but for the amount I would use it I thought better of it and kept money in my wallet. Not often I would use it and would mainly only be on beach and oak so will just break out the 36" bar on the 076 + it gives me a reason to keep the old girl and blow the cobwebs out of her lol.

Here's the finished BB kit, at 22* blow down, after about 4 or 5 tanks or so, this is with a pop up piston at .037 if I recall or mebbe 27, and no base gasket:

Nice one mate. Sounds nice. What chain and filing are you using?

Havent had much time to play with mine due to working silly hours or repairing saws in the evening etc. The longer summer eves will be here soon tho! Bought myself a new 395xp 6 weeks ago and not even put fuel in it let alone use it, its just sat on the shelf still boxed up lol!

Standard 73lpx on that girl - no goofy filing. Bar is 22". 8 pin rim, as well.

This 18" bar here is where I did a bit of mods to the chain. No race chain work on the links, just some creative work on the cutters and really low rakers(but not thinned):

Bear in mind that saw is pulling chips that size out of a maple trunk - not a conifer. This would be mad in the PNW on fir with a 32" bar, square chisel, and a 7 tooth.
