New found respect for climbers

As a woodcutter, felling many trees on a single day, I always had a lack of respect for climbers taking a day or two for a single tree and having four guys on site too. I can now say I'm sorry! On Friday I was climbing a large sycamore by the road side. I had to climb it to get my strops up high enough to pull each limb over with a turfer. There were four trees growing from the main stem and 3 of them wanted to smash into the road. I climbed that tree, and all four limbs, with no spurs, no ropes, no harness, no gloves and no helmet. At one point I sat up there and rolled a smoke while the wind swayed me back an forth, looking up into the canopy...it was unreal tbh. I got them all down without a problem the whole day, but yes, even doing it my way, proper felling cuts using hinge to swing them in and pulling them over with a turfer, it still took me the whole day to do it. You guys are great! Plain and simple. You're at the top of your' game, well done guys

I was exactly the same as you before I decided to be a climber and have a serious new found respect for the work carried out by everyone in the industry

But aint it fun:lol: I know there's bad days, but most of the time I think how lucky it is that someone's prepared to pay me to do it.

It is fun! And I'm seriously considering going for my climbing ticket after that experience. Road side trees always make my bum start farting, but hauling them back with a winch or turfers makes a hard job more manageable. I've never had to close a road down, and I hope I never have to
