tipping trailer back door

hi guys, i am looking to buy a new galvinised trailer. i want a tipper, but i also want a back door ramp. the trailer will have the high cage sides. my mate has one but when you want to tip you have to take off the back cage, then undo the back door. i find this a pain, takes longer and more chance of someone running them over, the back ramped door is excellent for dragging dumpy bags on, minidigger/tracked chippers and the likes. surely its a matter of some extra barn door hinges at the top and some removable pins top and bottom. advice please.:001_smile:

Have horizontal pins on the door / ramp, these fit into c shaped cups which point backwards, the cups are drilled to take a locking pin. To tip remove the bottom pins and to use a ramp remove the top ones. To improve tipping mount the top pins on a frame 2 - 3' higher than the top of the sides so that things will slide out without catching the door, this will also give you longer ramps.:001_smile:

i would like to buy it complete all lovely and galvinised from the manufacturer, rather then get a fabricator to add it on, i have phoned jenkins in ayr but they wont do it, they just want to sell the basic model:thumbdown: i got a transit back door made up years ago with removable pins, like a cylage trailer. it was excellent. thanks tom.:001_smile:

try John Thorburn and sons at Duns, they make em to order so you could have whatever you like. I know they can get stuff galvanised so worth a try.:001_smile:

graham edwards built me one a few years back and it was spot on. i sold it on, and now wish i had'nt, as you say a bit more expensive than others but the build quality was very good. the only prob i had was with a dodgy indespension unit they replaced no questions asked.
