What he said ! and I used to do it on my own as it's neh on impossible to get people that don't climb to stand and watch lol. Makes you hyper aware of safety as well. If your really worried just leave a note with someone you trust of your location and when your due back.

i used to like showing my mate how to spike, id set up a belay with a pulley and prussic so if they slipped they wouldnt go far, but apart from doin that they would sooner be riding the trails or fixing a car than watching me climb, but the lil incentive always gave me a bit longer, climbing on your own isnt a good idea tho, even tho i bet most people have climbed here with a chainsaw on there own.................:)

i found some one who had some dead wood in there trees. asked if i could deadwood them for free and in return climb the trees when i wanted. the trees are near a path so they were really keen. still climb there now and have since got paid work from the people which has paid for my gear. score
