Do you charge a premium for Ash logs?

A chap up the road from me charges extra for a load of just Ash firewood. Got me thinking, my loads are around 70% Ash and rest sycamore, maple, oak, elm. I wonder if there is a lot more to gain from seperating the Ash more and selling 100% loads, at say, 20% more. After all, 100% Ash cord would cost more then a mixed load (i think anyway).

To be honest I don't get all the fuss about ash. Sure it is ready to burn quicker but if you are processing in the spring most logs are seasoned for the following winter. I think beech is nicer to burn when dry.

On the other hand if you can charge a premium you might just as well

I echo your reply, and believe my mixed loads are just about right imo. But just wondering if anyone else sells just Ash logs for extra £££

I sort my cord into species, I have four price points and I sell my logs in nets.

Oak £4.60

Mixed Hardwood ( Ash, beech, hornbeam, sycamore ) £4.00

Silver Birch £3.60

Sweet Chestnut £3.10

I have been doing it this way for the last 20 odd years and it works for me , not saying that i'm doing it right though.
