A real difficult one as the saw may have spent years in use with the numbers off it and may never be reunited with the owner.

It sounds lie an 020 if it has the black screw in fuel/oil caps and that dates it to pre 2000.

You have broadcast it, go use it if no one claims it, not much else you can do with it...is there?

I know what your saying Spud but I hate the idea that I may have paid for stolen kit at someone else's cost, and the idea that I put money in the pocket of a lowlife just get's my back up, having like most on here worked bloody hard for everything I have, if someone stole my gear I would blow a fuse, but I would like to think if someone came across it and they thought it was dodgy they might try and get it back to it's owner

cant think of any legitimate reason to remove a serial number. it should also be embossed (or possibly engraved) somewhere in the crankcase as well as on the outer plate though

No mate nore can I that's what makes me think it's nicked. Spud it has an ms200t name plate on the side (I know they can be replaced) but I think it's one of the first ms200t

All the MS200Ts have the flippy black and white fuel/oil caps - it is common to get hybrids made from parts or a later MS200 fuel tank fitted to the earlier 020T crank cases!

likely just a 200t recoil starter case on a 020t

Very likely - a simple check is the carb adjustment holes in the side grommet will be close together and if you remove the cylinder, the transfer port is split on an MS200T and is one single port on the 020T!

The fuel and oil caps are screw in on the 020T only!

think if you split the crankcase theres another serial number stamped there.

Nope, it will only be on the front, next to the front AV mount, personally I would use it or go back through ebay and I have to say that their customer protection is pretty good on this sort of thing - it is the sellers who generally suffer!
