Hi there, a quick snap from an observation the other day....

 

whats this fungi and whats it up to?

 

sorry about the pic quality etc, also its about 20 foot up the tree.

I put the pick up, clicked enter.... and thought stop being a lazy arse go look at your books... so i had a look and thats my conclusion.... chicken of the woods....

 

so i need two more confirmations

Looks a bit like Laetiporus to me too. It will be causing a cubical brown rot in the heartwood. A lighter shade of brown than its common competitor Fistulina and a more aggressive rot. Can cause failures due to its slightly more aggressive nature but oaks stand up to a lot!
