rigging/lowering for a beginner

i need to get more experience up in the trees before i do any courses i was just wondering if there was some basic tecniqe i could learn to maybe help me find a job the replys i have been getting are great and ill keep them in mind keep em coming folk. as for the book i think i might just get myself 1 and have a read through it

There's nothing wrong with a bit of natural crotch rigging, all you need is a 3 strand poly bullrope, we got by with that setup for 4 years before we went "advanced".

 

BTW you're welcome to come over here next time I'm doing a dismantle to see our kit and how we use it.:001_smile:

me too tom, pulleys and things are great on the right job with the right groundstaff, i have an old climbing rope, or i would be lying if i didnt say i used the other end of my line, keep a little nug and lower bits myself, simple and effective:001_smile:

Alasdair, take up Tom on the offer, get over and watch and listen. We still do mainly natural crotch rigging. Sure it has it's limitations but when you accidentally nick a bit of 'cheap' polyprop 3 strand it ain't so much of a heart ache as nicking an expensive double braid (and i've long spliced some in the woods to get us out of tricky situations).

 

When we get together for the 'Scottish get together, ask questions i'm sure people will help and talk and maybe demonstrate.
