Troublesome stump

After a bit of help regarding the cost of grinding a ash stump.

Stump is 75x75cm but has two large anchor roots to grind and it is on a bank side with a visible 3 to 4 foot of stem to grind where the bank levels again before a river.

The stump can be accessed easily from the front to grind out but not from the rear and there's two visible large rock grown into the stump front and back.

A digger is going to be used to expose some more of the front but cannot pull it out in case the bank comes with it.

Would I just add on a new set of teeth and a saw chain to the price or is there a better way to tackle it?

Cheers Jim

I was thinking of subcontracting the work but I haven't had the grinder that long and any work that comes along goes towards paying the bugger off.

It might be easiest in the long run tho just to put the work out to some one else.

Cheers Jim

If you don't fancy it Jim, bung a photo or two up and I know a guy with a tracked Predator who might have a look.

Otherwise, bung an old chain on and start nibbling out round the grown in Rocks I reckon and take it from there.

Cost wise, maybe explain to them it's not a typical stump, make an estimate but explain it could end up a chunk more - it's not like there's many guys with stumpgrinders round us for them to go to anyway.

They want the stump removed as the area is getting landscaped right up to the river bank.

I was thinking the same as you Chris and just billing for a new chain and a set of teeth for the grinder.

Initially the trees were to just fell but now they've seen the stump they want them out and a quotation for doing it.
