Stihl take chainbreak issues very seriously. If this saw is fairly new and no obvious fault has been detected take it back to your dealer. He can either fix it or send it back to Stihl for evaluation and repair.

 

You should be able to apply the break easily with the back of your hand, if not it is dangerous.

 

It's not easy to apply with the back of the hand and I can't get it to activate with the drop test.

 

I bought the saw in the uk and live in Ireland so not sure what the deal is with taking it to a local dealer but will have to find out.

This Stihl chain break made of flora thing has been on before . We did discuss modding the exhaust can to direct the hot gasses away from the handle . Check previous thread to see if anyone came up with an answer .....
