Hi Guys I have a MS 441 from new not long ago and the chain brake seems to be very stiff. is this normal or has anyone else had this problem?

I've got exactly the same problem, I tool mine apart but couldn't see any problems

My 441 has been the same as your since new. I think it's a similar problem as the 660 has as it gets worse when the saw gets hot.

 

I did clean out the brake and replaced the spring but it did not solve the problem.

Stihl take chainbreak issues very seriously. If this saw is fairly new and no obvious fault has been detected take it back to your dealer. He can either fix it or send it back to Stihl for evaluation and repair.

 

You should be able to apply the break easily with the back of your hand, if not it is dangerous.

It's the same with my 660 , when hot it wont work its like the brake was turning to jelly , got a new one put on about 16 weeks ago and now it happen again , when cold works 100% after running for a bit nothing.
