Is 8.95 per hour a good rate of pay for a fully qualified second climber,working for one of the biggest Utility contractors in the South West,i personally think its abit poor but id appretiate your input.:confused1:

All depends on what authorisation he has I.e. can he hold a permit ect. When you say second climber would he be there as a rescue climber and working on the ground. I'd say to be honest it's pro the going rate may be a tad on the low side but not much.

In order to make money in utility you ideally need to sub contract and work on a span payment. That way the more you cut the more you get payed

I take it mate as withe your experience you should shine in a company. Team leaders get payed more so may be 12 months time that could be you. Do you mind if I ask who the company is? Have you worked utility before?

I'm a team leader running an arb gang of 3 of us and my hourly rate is £8.45 per hour, my company is probably the lowest paid arborist's in the UK :(
