Apologies, perhaps I should of listed every single species of tree I so far documented it on and conversely every single species of tree I haven't seen it on, in the name of balanced perspective of course :001_rolleyes:

You can stick your tongue out and mock all you like but you know as well as I do tree hosting can make a lot of difference to decay progression.

Horse chestnut hosting the brown rot of R. ulmarius

 

Resistograph readings taken at 25cm height at cardinal points.

 

The dbh = 1080mm taken at 1.5m

 

Readings suggest that the tree is coping with the associated heart wood decay & has a sound residual wall of between 24 & 36cm.

 

The sound wood is well over a third of the radius of the tree, not even taking into consideration that it has had a significant reduction in the past.

 

We shall continue to monitor.........
