Travlling with Gear

Going to norway on sunday, from the UK just wondering can you take karabiners and other gear like lockjack and ropeguides on in your carry on?

Don't see why not but would you risk that gear getting taken off you?Are you not taking another bag?put it in main luggage and save the hassle!

I flew with my rope, wire strops, all karabiners, pulleys, harness, throw bags, slings and spiderjack etc all in a big rope bag. They couldn't pick it up when they wanted to search it!

The chainsaw went in the hold though!

And they didn't hassle you to weigh it if they couldn't pick it up as hand luggage?

Oddly for this airline there was no weight limit for carry on, only a limit on size to fit in the overhead.

 

It wasn't the airline searching it obviously. At the the security.

i have another bag but its 17kgs with boots harness, chainsaw pants and spikes and what not so still got clothes and other stuff to try and fit

I normally wear my chainsaw trousers, boots and and as much clothing as i can comically get away with on the flight if weight is an issue!!

How the hell did you get a chainsaw on an aircraft?!

They have a policy of no gas powered tools at all. Even brand new and unused.

Rock climbers I've known would carry their climbing racks (nuts, friends, cams etc) on their bodies cos of the weight limits:lol:
