tata/proton pickup

Hi i am thinking at replaceing my 40 year old lwb petrol land rover used for delivering logs.I am looking for the newest/lowest milage /cheapest pickup thats available and was wondering what your thoughts or experiance of the above pickups are,any comments would be greatly recieved.

They may be different now but I used to drive a tata a few years ago. Kept on stopping at first because I thought the handbrake was stuck on. Gutless and unreliable.

Tata is unreliable, proton is ok but has a low payload and a bit underpowered, better off with a higher mileage ranger or l200, the 2wd ones are quite cheap if you don't want to go off-roading.

We have a tata on the estate, its been a good pickup BUT we do have trouble getting parts at mot time apart from that you get what you pay for.

Used to fit tow bars. Tata are notorious for deep rust on chassis. Had one 3 years old come in and we couldn't fit tow bar as the bolt holes in the chassis gave way!

 

Personally theres a reason people pay a little bit more for a land rover. Rangers are strong from experience and has switchable 4wd so for low money but strong i would say that
