Eye burning drill bit

I got a mate to make me something from an old socket it's got a rough enough edge to cut but is also blunt enough to burn.

 

Sounds like something I could make up then if it's not necessary for high carbon steel :)

 

I just been trying out some 16mm spheres which are supposed to be for plant pot topping and look like marbles. I think they were about £1.99 for a bag of about 100 or more. I bored a hole using a 16mm spade bit 14mm deep and the ball taps in a treat looks good to :)

i made some a few weeks back. had never used a metal turning lathe before so it was practice. they cut the eyes well but dont burn them much. i suspect my drill isnt fast enough to get the burn. I made one about 1 inch diamater and 2 about half an inch. if u want em to try make one for you to try then let me know. wont be within a few weeks but ill give it a go
