wow blast from the past there grasshopper. the old frankenstein stihl boots. Had these when i did my NC back in '99. They really make you appreciate the newer boots when you can afford them.

Definitely. If he becomes a good climber in those, then there is no stopping him when he gets into airstreams.

 

Are they hard to climb in?

 

Can I get the specs anywhere? What are they called?

They can be a bit numb until broken right in but they are great boots with good grip although not brilliant on soft barked trees.
