They sound the same size as I've felled recently. 43" circumference, about 18m of stick + crown on top. If you can, take some notes on straightness as well.

Absolutely no idea of prices paid for standing timber

Due to the small amount of timber there's no way you can make it viable with a machine (not mech Harv. I'm talking tractor/timber trailer) unless your neighbour has one. Do you have a management plan and felling licence in place? If some one is willing to do the work foc for the timber you've had a result. Where in Yorkshire is the timber? Alongside dbh you'll also need heights. Area to be worked. If possible planting year/age. Good luck!

Theres possibly 100 to 150 larch trees i need removing.

How many trees do i need to make it viable ?

If I can't at least get paid what it would cost me to replant hardwoods theres no point in me selling.

 

Management plan is being written and will cover thinning and felling cetain areas with replanting. Approval in principle has been given by both FC and LC.

 

I will measure heights they all look the small height to me and were all planted in the same year

Have you applied for a wig? The ewgs standard costs will give you an idea of cost. It's not too far out.

Also it's not the number of trees more the weight. Also if they're spread out all over the place (along tracks etc) then hand cutting isn't really viable on a tonnage basis. Especially if you need to clear brash up. Why are you so keen to remove them? What hectareage are you managing? You could get the whole wood thinned with a small cf under a wood fuel wig. (funded harvesting) with an offset for funds raised from the timber against the wig. You can also get grants for timber surveys. Obviously the greater the area the better the funding.

Roughly where about in Yorkshire is it - Yorkshire covers a big area.

 

Unfortunately, no one's going to make any sort of offers without actually having seen it.

 

Small sites can be viable, it's all about getting the right guys with the right gear who can put the wood into the right markets
