I believe there is an example in Lonsdales book showing a failure at these grafts due to incompatability, poor fusion in tissues.

There is a good one down the st here that has a poor root space and nver seems to grow, it goes a little dies back goes a little dies back, but certain thats the limited exploration capability of the roots as apposed to the graft, maybe a combination?

The strangest ones I have seen to date are where the rootstock has been so poor it has decayed away and the roots have been repleced by the scion. Make you wonder why they grafted it in the first place, also leaves a huge cavity at the base. Luckily it also seems to coincide with stunted canopy development.

Hello Marcus,

Imagine that that scenario is potentialy serious.

As you state, fortunate that the canopies are stunted.

Any shots of an example?
