Thanks chaps. I just used the same cord I had used for a VT. But I like the idea of a more compact hitch - so will shorten it a bit.

Schwabisch hitch is awesome!!

 

1. Make four wraps around main static rope with a hand tied or sewn prusik or spliced eye split tail friction cord.

 

2. After fourth wrap bring wrapping tail down and make an additional wrap at bottom of other wraps in opposite direction while tying a half hitch around other rope. This results in both tails exiting the knot together.

 

3. Join eyes in front add pully and clip together with a carabiner.

If you are shortening it, make sure you leave 4x the diameter of the rope as tail ends to pass lolar.... Use to be 2 but now 4

Jut an update to those who commented, climbed today on Knut , really like it , simple to Tie, grips every time , only downside is the fluidity of the Knut , suppose I could decrease friction with

 

1 multisaver

2 thimble saver

3 pulley saver

 

Sorry to go off thread but what would be your preference

Good to hear your getting on with it!

 

IMO pulley saver hands down although I think any ring to ring such as the multi saver are still a great adversary to use with any system

It's the same with all cambium savers bro! If its soft ground ie grass then just let it come down on its own! Unless you prefer to add a throwline to it just for added protection against it either getting stuck or hard landing surfaces such as concrete! A aluminium ring should be treated with the same respect as a pulley, they all hate hard surfaces
