Forestry contracts and tenders Scotland

I've been tree felling, planting, Rhodies and scrub clearing for forestry commission in west of Scotland for 10 years. Now I live in Stirling and want to start out on my own. I've sent emails to Scottish woodlands in Perth and Forestry commission in Aberfoyle, without any joy. I have no real contacts here, and just can't seem to get my foot in the door. Any advice would be much appreciated. Davey

Starting out in forestry work is a lot harder than arb work, the contracts are much bigger and therefore tend to go to the bigger firms. All the fcs stuff is on a frame work... PM me your details, I ocasionally have stuff..

Just keep at it, there possibly isn't anything about right now. (if they're like Fc england they're still faffing trying to finish last years financials. Try tilhill but their desire for pointless paperwork is greater than the Fc. As mentioned wait for the tenders on the Fc website, they're not too hard to complete but put alot of people off. Just pester them every 2 months or so. Good luck.

The trouble thar you are facing is you as a company has nothing to offer compared with existing companies. Tilhill and the F.C. have approved contractors so you are going to have to find out how to become one, which will cost you time and money. You will find it easier to start with approaching private land owners. You also need to find out where there are gaps in the market, and exploit these.

Good luck
