you will need a strong webbing sling as and anchor for your pulley, the sling and pulley should have a higher working load limit to the cable or rope you use, the cable or rope should have a working load limit several times higher than the weight of what you are pulling.

If you read the link that Ty Unnos posted for you then you might have a bit more of an idea as to what you want and how to use it.

How much timber are you looking to extract? I see you are looking for a 20-22" saw and are trying to work out how to sell the timber.

just a bit worried you may be trying to tackle a big job with diy tools.

without wishing to be rude in any way it would seem that you are somewhat out of your depth and that what you actually require is some experienced assistance.

 

yes the block shown in the link is suitable for the application you have indicated and yes you most definately need a soft strop to go around the tree and secure the hook to it

There is no need for a high safety factor in a pulling operation

 

4x for lifting

2x for pulling - but this applies to the tension applied to the rope - not the weight of the object being pulled

 

safety factors relate to the applied tension - which is not necessarily the same as the mass of the moved object

there was mention of ragging stuff up a hill with a van... in that application i would apply safety factors!

This entire situation screams disaster tbh. I'm guessing no ppe, no training and no experience using a saw in the middle of a woodland on your own. Its not worth the risk mate.
