Yes thats the type of thing, still chinese and still poor quality but will be repaired/replaced for free for the first year and then replaced anytime after that for £20 for up to 3 years. I had one years ago got 2 replacements in the 3 years and just before the warranty ran out I allowed I would get a new one but when I went in they had none so gave me a full refund of the original purchase price. Unbelievable.

Was that from Argos?

I have bough things from Argos in the past

They told me they offer a 1 year warranty and if it brakes in the first 45 days they will replace or refund it but if its after the 45 days they said they would have to send it back to the manufacturer, which would mean you would be with out your saw

Having looked at 'the Sale of Goods Act' im not so sure as it says the seller has a duty to refund or replace the item not who they got if from

 

Did they change the item for you there and then?

what went wrong with your saw when you took it back

Did you find the saw under powered and if so did it stall on big logs
