Weds got things prepped - sawed and pulled out 3 massive rings from the center - I'll use 2 but the third was almost immovable so firewooded... managed to get the top half off the log with Peterson - the first high cuts are never fun :sneaky2:

Next day on site Friday - early start and continued with the Peterson mill.... lots of sawdust and this section had a lot of shake in the right hand side... lots of wood though as well.

Had a few beams out of it (x4 collected by Rhob the Log) and Paul from Goulden Hardwoods - his blogs are worth a read through - Hampshire Wood Suppliers Blog Index had a few 7" by 7" and then by 2pm had had enough and off he went.

I finished at 3pm - so now got to pull the last bit of that log up and ring it up then onto the main monster in 10 days as am busy until then....

Have made a vid but too tired to edit it at the mo... :laugh1:

Cheers for the wood Rob! Milled it up this morning - turned out lovely. Some particularly amazing rippling going on in a couple of slabs. Milled down to 2" (plus the 'wastage' 1 1/4"s hehehe) and some 4x3s. Attached is the nitty gritty.
