Just wondering what the last few years have been like for others ?. Im finding yellow pages is far to over priced and delivering dwindling results. Yell.com, there must be hundreds of company's. And TL I don't think has ever worked ?.

I think your right there , this is my last year with them just renewed with them most of my customers are regular and I think yel.com get some phone calls yell pages is had it's day

I find it ok, It only cost me £500 a year so its pennies and it certainly brings in work.

The worst thing I ever did was to advertise with yell/yellow pages. I am still getting unwanted calls 4yrs after the last paid for ad. Average lead involves a small job with 6 people quoting. (and price not quality will be the decider)

To be fair it did throw up couple of good jobs for a several k spent. Most other advertising mediums produce far better results per pound but if your good at what you are doing word of mouth will take over after a few years

I think word of mouth is the best source of jobs, but if your like me and just gone self employed in the last year or so its getting going thats the hard bit, as for advertising its a tough one i think!!

Word of mouth is a good way to get work, but I bet most of us get work from lots of different sources yell, google, paper adverts, leaflet drops, van sign written, word of mouth, various contacts etc etc try lots of different mediums and get get your name out there especially if you are just starting off in business.
