wow just spotted this thread so I guess I should update thanks for the info everyone .

I finally had it done the 1st Oct ! and so far I would say its successfull I took 6 weeks off contract went to plan everything worked out really well even though I was panicking in the run up to it and knowing I would need time off work.

I removed a small salix yesterday to have a little warm up before starting back in general gardening just to see where I was really, my grip is back I can hold a saw no problems but the biggest problem is weight if I have to lift it hurts not where the incision is but where the muscle is apparently its called pillar pain where the ligament has receeded to the muscle and hardend so deep tissue massages to break down the scar tissue inside .

The physio way didnt work for me and I didnt see a sports therapist because I was already in the system I dont regret having it done though I can hold a cuppa in the morning without spilling it now or having to wait for my hand to wake up and get sensation in it before I could hold anything.

I would recomend though if anyone does suspect it carpel try physio and sports therapist first as any invasive op causes adhesions and they are a problem .

Sorry to hear you have neuralgic amyotrophy Justme but glad they done the tests for you and the pain has eased.Andrew how did you break your stitches!!ow my hand was sore as hell for the first few weeks can imagine it breaking open !How is it now?I am hoping a few more weeks and I will see an improvement in my strength the muscle is still weak atm

Yep its is getting there but think it will take a few more weeks yet before its 100 % .Just added a new pic the little finger side of the scar upwards and into the finger it hurts still quiet a bit its the muscle thats giving me grief not the actuall scar .The scar is looking a bit red im sure once that goes it will just look like another line on the palm and be hardly noticable I am still going to take it steady until its 100% I need my power back its amazing how much the muscles weakend and how it affected the whole hand but its coming back slowly I think the more exercise it gets the stronger it will get but its going to take time longer than I expected
