Yep I think those of us in 'the know' all agree, sadly John you seem to be slightly blinkered and not taking this advice on board....hope it all works out for you !

I am not blinkered just because I am looking for a better alternative to what those in "the know" have been putting forward as they openly admit the present way of brash baling is not economic for brash usage on a commercial basis. I cannot see dragging brash to the roadside to be any better as the cost of the machinery makes it uneconomic.

Maybe its time to learn from the french

John, We are saying Baling brash is un-economic -

Moving the brash on forwarders to the trackside for chipping is not.

In woods (terrain) chipping is ok, but you need fast chip shuttles to move the chip out of the wood.

As I said before, I do not believe you can cut, chip, extract and transport the chip for under £40 per tonne. These things work on economies of scale. Small scale does not usually work.

There is always someone who will try to prove you wrong, I'm not gonna go broke trying.

Yes indeed... but I would tend to listen to people who have a great deal of experience in this field...

Obviously Kesla spend a great deal of money not listening to people

I cannot see how anybody could make this bit of kit have a reasonable output.

This set up is, IMO counter productive for shuttling woodchip from chipping site to road haulage unit as the chipper is not working whilst the load is being transported, I looked at a forwarder mounted chipper fitted with a 20" chipper, a 400hp engine and a small, high tip chip bin for tipping into bulkers, speaking with the driver it took 9 minutes to fill the hopper feeding from the stack, even the shortest trip to the tip site meant that you were lucky to be chipping for 50% of the time making the throughput figures less that 50cu/hr.

hardly good production for the outlay.

I still believe that moving the brash and blowing the chip into the trailer is the most productive option.:thumbup1:

I'd love to reply but my parents connection where i am is to slow to view the video ! Kesla make some nice kit but do bear in mind the market it is intended for.

Buzz

I realise what market it is intended for which is why Kesla market it for bioenergy, precisely the market we are talking about for utilising brash.
