got asked to mill chestnut about 3 weeks ago iv bin putting it off as i thought i would be wasting my time

i got payed for it so why moan :lol::lol:

It stays very white but when dry is light if a bit brittle feeling.

 

 

Seems a nice bit of spaulting in the middle of that log.

i would never thought of milled chestnut before but i might have to re think if the heart is a nice colour

thought i would post more milling pic rob so u can see what the gear u keep selling me is bin doing :lol:

Nice - a decent aged butt or two! I really like the coffee coloured bands next to the white rings on Chestnut. :thumbup1:

 

Did you find there was a lot of compression in the timber or did it behave? I'd guess at that weight it would. Been milling small logs of it recently and it misbehaves a lot. Hope it dries down nicely. What will it be used for?

the butt was 5ft. shot though out of the whole tree them to bits where the only 2 worth milling

the wood behaved just used 5 wedges 1 in the end where i started the cut and 4 down the lenght mate

it cut easier than i thought it would

its not my wood just got payed to mill it

Pointless I think I called it

I'm happy with the way it come out a bit surprised
