The size of the winch does not determin the size of the block needed, the swl of the cable and the diameter of the cable does. The pulley needs to be about 4 times the diameter of the cable. If you get a 12-15 ton snatch block you will be looking at around £300 and about 40kg. If its for winching a 10mm cable is big and has a swl of nearly 3.5 t single line pull.. I hope this helps

What is the winch attached to? I take it that you own the winch and cable, not looking to buy.

HI CHRIS it a igland pto winch 6ton on a 8 ton plus tractor with new 12mm rope single line full out is 6ton but when the winch in close it down less then 2tons so i think a 10 ton block will do thanks jon

10t block should do it. I think you will have trouble making the tractor stay still, If if ever gets near to maximum pull power. Good luck.

:confused1:

The winch is still only pulling 6ton max, 12 ton is exerted only at the snatch block.

As big as you can carry mate, you will need to beef up everything.

Get yourself a huge long 5ton strop and then you can wrap it around anything 3 or 4 times.

When it's notin use just wrap it wound the but of the winch and choker it off and hang the pulley on it.

I may be wrong but just because you wrap a strop around some thing it does not increase its strength, you will still be left with two ends that are 5 tonne SWL. If you use a sling and wrap it around then it will increase.

6ton whinch requires 12ton minimum snatch block, plus a 12 ton strop, or greater depending on method of attachment. Simples:001_smile:

HI MATE the winch will only pull 6tons on empty drum when there 100mts it only pulls 2tons or less on single line but im going for a 15ton block thanks jon
