what do you reckon, i am looking at upgrading from a piece of wire for all my splicing.

I was looking at getting some fids, but wanted to know if this would do double braid as well as hollow??

They do work on db ropes from about 11mm upwards but they're not great. The wire and its attachment point have a habit of catching strands when passing through the rope.

Also not great for burying the core, bit tight.

Wire fids really are pretty unbeatable, especially for the price.

Hope this helps mate

Can't see any wire fids there Tony, but I do have 'The Splicing Handbook' from that list.Have been practicing double braid eyes using a bit of ali tent pole for a fid.

Tony, I've got that fid set which is excellent. But like the questionner I'd like to find a decent wire fid for burying the end of splices.

Anybody know a reasonable prices source?

The wire basket fid is not designed for DB.

It's a hollow braid fid.

If you can't make your own wire fid from piano wire or welding wire or whatever contact Treeworker.
