Arran, is the ISC pulley recommended for direct contact with textiles in the way the Pinto is?

Not sure will check anyway. Put a mallion in :) still put the innertube on the mallion just so that there is less wear and wear will be easy to spot

What about this as a suggestion. Sliding double fishermans onto a Pinto with spacer. Sliding fishermans will cinch down onto the pulley and MIGHT streamline the knot behind the pulley making it easier to retrieve (possibly!).

When you swap the pulley and do away with the maillon Arran, re-tie the prusik so the fishermans lie against the outside of the wraps rather than coming through on the side of the bight, the knots won't jam in the big maillon when you're retrieving it, you'll have a clean knot free retrieval then....:thumbup1:

Coming on well mate, I love making up rope tools, really enjoyable!

Ok, you dont need a spacer in the pulley if attaching it with a mallion or a krab, its only when attaching it via a loop of rope that the squeezing effect might be an issue so a spacer is required. And then you dont need to protect the cord from the pulley and in fact that protection would stop you being able to inspect it. Better to see whats going on and replace as required.

The original mallion is not subject to side loading because of its high SWL but because of its design, its a mallion not a karabiner! so its strong in all directions thats what its for.

Ghustarts design looks much better though. Captive eye fishermans knot very neat!

Pinto pulley and spacer turned up today nice and prompt! Thanks again Gustharts, used the chocker fisherman's as well worked well!! Had to have a rejig with everything as the pinto doesn't fit through the mallion, will just use a running bowline instead. Will try out tomorrow:D
