Evening,

As I am sure everyone is aware having a trailer licence in this industry is pretty much a must, as I only did my licence in 2007 I can only tow a 750KG or less trailer which is no good for work. Does anyone know how much is costs to do and anywhere in the Sussex area I can do it?

cheers for the help guys.

Lancing Driver Training suggested 3 4 hour sessions at £120 each plus the test fee would get a competent driver through, people who've done it say it's the normal driving that's the difficult part if you haven't had a lesson to get rid of bad habits.

One firm who had put guys through it had most of them fail without the training.

Got mine in Hastings driver training center. Only had 4 hours and passed with one minor. Cost about £500 to do it but the trainer is good and will train you to a higher standard that the test requires.

Doing a retest soon as I failed the first time round with 4 minors and a serious fault on the exercise. They don't train you to reverse your wingmirrors through the posts in the cones, or mine didn't, so when they tack on extra wingmirrors for the examiner and you clang 'em....not a huge amount of clearance. Best of luck, I had 4 sessions of lessons at £35 an hour (good rate, total idiot though), about 9 hrs total, plus the £115 test fee and loan of his vehicle and trailer. Retesting with a horse box and the 4x4.

The main trouble with the test is it's LGV so twice as long as your car driving test i.e. 1 and a half hours. Keep looking in your mirror every 6 - 8 seconds that's...too many times to count easily!
