One of my last assignments was a management plan for part of Bedgebury Pinetum and my dissertation was woodland habitat related so realised if I was being drawn to this area then that was where I wanted to find work for a large company with all the benefits of working for a large organisation. But its not that straight forward as I slowly found out with the ammount of applicants applying for jobs these days.

I now manage a couple of woodlands with habitat management in mind and a bit of heathland restoration, as well as tree surgery myself. With my main passion being for trees I am doing a level 4 diploma in arboriculture in October.

I also do a bit of volunteer work for the woodland trust and the local wildlife trust doing reptile surveys. I would recommend this for the experience on the cv and can really give you some good knowledge to back up assignments. You'll probably see that you find some subjects more interesting than others which could give you an idea of the sector in which you would like to work and then explore the avenues available to you.

Best of luck with the course and I'll let you know if you can come and do a bit with me sometime.
