Hi

 

Can someone explain what the White mycelium sheeting could be from in this picture please?

 

Its from a limb failure a friend sent it to me, its not an ideal picture.

Theres a jelly ear in the middle am i right and maybe some Krutch in bottom right?

could be any number of rotters, hard to say from image, species of tree?

 

I will guess beech, with some intense white stringy rot, if kretz is there it isnt the one responsible for that stringey rot, thats more like selective delignification / simultaneous white rot (ganos possibly)

and the little jelly number? Jelly Ear?

 

 

 

Do you have a better shot of the 'Jelly ear' ?

 

I doesn't quite look like Auricularia sp in that image.

 

Looks more like an Ascocoryne sp to me.

what about ustulina? dont they produce mycelium?

 

Only black demarcation lines in the wood.

Also Jelly ear is the PC name for Jews ear these days i believe
