Do those of you that sell it green charge less for it?

Justme

same price here. my attitude is, i dont really care if they have it or not as it will go next year....and as i've already told them at this point to shop elsewhere its entirely their choice.

Good call, after all you would only be doing yourself out of next years profit.

valid point there steve... i just increase the dry wood price every season to compensate.

if the following years are to be similar to this one for demand then dry wood will be king at this time of year jan/feb/march

last winter we sold out of seasoned, so when customers were phoning we told them that we only had green fresh logs but some people still asked for deliveries, like steve said as long as they know what theyre having i dont see nothing wrong with selling it.

We charge the same for fresh logs as dry one's.The customer gets the same amount whether it's wet or dry so why should the price differ. We give them half seasoned an half six month to year old sticks. We always tell them whats in it and where it came from, alot of customers ask.The only customers we have lost is down to price, you get what you pay for an there's alot of crap being sold out there!

I agree that as long as you explain to customers what they are getting it is a up to you if you want to sell it green.

We only sell a fixed amount of seasoned firewood every year - locals know it is good stuff so it is usually all gone by end of Jan (mid Dec last year). The thing is that if our customers run out then they trying to find stuff just about when everyone else getting to the bottom of the pile. So many times they have ended up with a bag of freshly cut leylandii at top dollar that they are a bit more thoughtfull with their ordering next year. I think 80% of this years supply already has names on it. Might start taking deposits!
