Same story here ... Drunk on whisky at the age of 18. Didnt go near it until I was 45 !! I now head north every year for as many days as I can and sample as many single malts as possible. I am not a smokey/peaty fan and I decided I wasnt keen on the superstition... took the whole bottle to make sure !! Last years trip to Perthshire introduced me to the very sweet Edradour 12 yo ... I do not believe I will ever find anything better... but I will keep trying !!

I,m well into the bottle of glenmorangie already and it's very more ish, even though its the other end from Jura away from the smokey peaty side.

I,m going to have to limit my tasting to weekends only:001_smile:

Talisker for me, it kicks the rest into touch. I met an Icelandic bloke who got me on to Vodka and Fisherman's Friends - one bottle of vodka, 3 or 4 F/Friends sweets in it, leave for a day or 2, then drink.....but not through the week! Slainte!

Btw I added a little water to the famous grouse and it transformed it, very easy to drink now, something I would choose on a night out

Haha... That was my first impression, but you have to have a cheap fall back drink for if your out with the lads and buying rounds. You can't be making them pay for the premium stuff (-;

My cheap fall back is glenmorangie original and that I only drink when times are hard lol

hi I'm new on here. Sorry for butting into your conversation! Got to agree with talisker, stick with the 10yr tho. 18yr is ok if you got the money but the 10 is much cheaper and tastes better too in my opinion
