i have lost count the amount of times i have done that. its when some old person leaves a message on the answer machine but you can hardly make it out except for the surname. so when the wee lady answers and i say is that mrs smith, and she says yes, then i say i think mr smith must have called me today. then she bursts out crying explaining mr smith has been dead for 4 years. try backtracking out of that.

 

I turned up with a forwarder load of round timber for firewood that i'd been promising this old guy for weeks.

 

Starts unloading it onto the pile as per usual only to be told by his daughter 20 mins later that he died a week ago

you dont know what to say, when it happens. as long as he never froze then you shouldnt feel bad
